Extra Time to File and Pay Federal and New Jersey Taxes for Victims of Hurricane Irene

The IRS and New Jersey Division of Taxation recently issued announcements regarding tax relief for all 21 New Jersey counties. Because these counties have recently been declared federal disaster areas, individuals and business living or located in these areas now qualify for federal and state tax relief.

For federal tax filers and payers: Business and individual returns due between August 27th and October 31st, now have until October 31st, 2011 to file their returns. This includes calendar year-end corporation and partnership filings that have been extended until September 15th and individual returns extended until October 15th. This also includes the quarterly estimated tax payments for the 3rd quarter - normally due September 15th.
